Meet Dr. Joshua Doidge

Dr. Doidge is a Clinical Psychologist dedicated to helping individuals and families feel supported, understood, and empowered. With more than nine years of experience, he provides therapy and psychological assessment for children, adolescents, adults, and families. He is also completing advanced supervision in couples therapy to further support partners seeking healthier communication and stronger relationships.

As a psychologist, Dr. Doidge specializes in treating anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, emotion and behavioral regulation issues, autism spectrum disorder, trauma, learning disorders, relationship concerns, substance use issues, grief, and eating disorders. Dr. Doidge also offers personalized career coaching and performance improvement services designed to help individuals build confidence, strengthen skills, and advance in their professional lives.

His therapeutic approach is warm, collaborative, and evidence-based. He integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment-Based Therapies, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Psychodynamic Therapy, and play-based approaches for children. He also offers career and leadership coaching for individuals looking to improve performance, leadership skills, and personal well-being.

Throughout his career, Dr. Doidge has worked in various mental health centres across Toronto. He completed his pre-doctoral residency at Avalon Hills Eating Disorder Specialists in Utah, a highly regarded residential program providing multidisciplinary treatment for complex eating disorders. He is licensed to practice in both Ontario and the state of Utah. His training also includes neurofeedback and other brain-based therapeutic approaches, offering clients additional options for attention, mood, and regulation concerns.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Doidge is actively involved in psychological research. His work explores executive functioning and decision-making in ADHD, as well as the impact of technology and digital media on youth development topics that are increasingly relevant for parents and families. He has contributed to multiple scholarly publications, including a co-authored chapter in ADHD in Adolescents: Development, Assessment, and Treatment (Guilford Press) and a peer-reviewed article in the Journal of Attention Disorders.

Dr. Doidge completed his Ph.D. and Master’s degree in Clinical Developmental Psychology at York University, where he received dual-competency training in child and adult psychology. He was recognized for academic and leadership excellence, receiving the Clinical Developmental Area Leadership Award and serving as a LaMarsh Leadership Representative. He also mentored students in the Asperger’s Mentorship Program (AMP), reflecting his long-standing commitment to inclusive, supportive care. He earned his Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto, graduating on the Dean’s List and receiving multiple academic awards.

Dr. Doidge offers personalized therapy to help individuals navigate their emotional struggles and mental health challenges to regain a sense of hope and purpose in their lives. Therapy begins with understanding you, your history, your goals, your strengths, and the areas where you need support to create a personalized plan. From there, Dr. Doidge works collaboratively with you to build insight, develop practical coping strategies, and foster long-term resilience. 

Dr. Doidge provides supportive and developmentally informed therapy for children and adolescents who may be facing emotional, behavioural, or social challenges. His goal is to help young people better understand their feelings, build healthy coping skills, and feel more confident as they navigate the complexities of growing up. Dr. Doidge works collaboratively with both the young person and their caregivers to create an individualized plan that supports well-being at home, school, and in relationships. 

Dr. Joshua Doidge provides comprehensive psychological assessments for adolescents, and adults to better understand emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs. Assessments may address ADHD, mood and anxiety concerns, attention and emotion regulation, and other mental health difficulties.  Assessments help clients understand needs clearly and identify effective next steps.

Dr. Doidge offers personalized family therapy to help families navigate challenges, strengthen relationships, and build healthier, more connected family systems.

Family therapy begins with understanding the unique dynamics of your family, including each member’s perspectives, strengths, and patterns of interaction. Dr Doidge works with families to uncover underlying patterns, relational dynamics, and intergenerational influences that shape interactions. 

Dr. Doidge is currently completing advanced supervised training in couples therapy. He assists partners in strengthening their bond, resolving conflicts, and fostering a more supportive and harmonious relationship through the Gottman Method approach. This evidence-based model focuses on helping couples deepen friendship and intimacy, improve communication patterns, and rebuild trust where it has been strained. 

Dr. Doidge provides coaching services informed by clinical psychology to help individuals enhance their professional growth, clarify career direction, and strengthen overall performance. He supports clients in identifying their goals, overcoming internal or external barriers, and developing the skills needed to thrive in their work and personal lives.  Whether navigating a career transition, managing workplace stress, or striving for greater fulfillment, Dr. Doidge collaborates with clients to create meaningful and sustainable progress. 

Parental Guidance

Dr. Doidge provides parental guidance to help parents or caregivers better understand their child’s emotional and behavioural needs and feel more confident in their parenting approach. Sessions focus on equipping parents with practical, evidence-based strategies for managing challenges, supporting healthy development, and strengthening the parent–child relationship.

Dr. Doidge offers clinical consultation to psychologists, social workers, and therapists seeking support with treatment planning, diagnostic clarification, or complex clinical presentations. He provides evidence-informed guidance, collaborative discussion, and practical recommendations to enhance therapeutic effectiveness and assessment accuracy.
